US Army Veteran Featured in Strong Magazine – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

A local US Army veteran turned fitness enthusiast can now add a cover girl to her resume.

Destiny Monroe has been following her fitness journey on Instagram in hopes of inspiring people, especially women, about healthy living. When the pandemic hit, her platform became even more important, motivating people at home to get up and move.

After appearances on The TODAY Show and amassing tens of thousands of social media followers, Monroe was recently honored with the cover of Strong magazine.

“I couldn’t quite believe it,” Monroe said. “Yeah, I know I did the photo shoot and I did the interview and all, but I can’t believe I’m on the cover!”

The Dallasite now has its own gym in Dallas, called JD Iron Gymand recently launched her own fitness app, Raw Fitness, where she now virtually trains 1,000 women.

“I’ve always wanted to inspire women, especially women of color, that we can do this. We can be healthy,” Monroe said.

She said there’s no substitute for hard work, but her three keys to success include continuing to check your sanity, fostering good discipline with a daily routine, and practicing self-love.
