Two Army jawans killed, two injured in fratricidal incident at J&K’s Poonch

Srinagar: Two army jawans were killed and two others injured in a fratricidal incident at Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir, army sources confirmed on Friday.

During the incident, one jawan died instantly while another succumbed to gunshot wounds while being treated. Two other soldiers are being treated in a military hospital.

According to sources, an army soldier was killed and three others injured in a fratricide incident which took place today morning at the 156th battalion of the territorial army based in Surakote, Poonch.

The soldier who opened fire on his comrades in arms is also among the wounded. An hour later, the death toll rose to two as another soldier lost his in the Surankote fratricide case.

According to the sources, the fratricidal incident took place at 5.30am today when a jawan shot three other soldiers in his barracks and then shot himself in the stomach with his own gun.

A detailed probe has been ordered into the case.

Three suspected interstate drug traffickers were arrested in the trucks yesterday and convicted under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).

Anti-Drugs Task Force (ANTF) Police Chief Superintendent Vinay Sharma said a truck en route to Punjab from Kashmir was intercepted near the environmental park in Sidhra area of ​​Jammu, causing recovered 24 plastic bags containing 600 kg of poppy straw hidden under sheets of plywood.

Nasir Farooq and Mohammad Amin Rather, both residents of Pulwama district in south Kashmir, were arrested, the officer said, adding that the ANTF was investigating back and forth links to the shipment and that further arrests are expected.

Sharma called on people to share information about drug traffickers so that strict action can be taken against them.
