Responsibility Ceremony Welcomes Top USAG Bavaria Officer | Item
GRAFENWOEHR, Germany – US Army Garrison Bavaria officially welcomed Command Sgt. Major Sebastian A. Camacho, during an assumption of responsibility ceremony at Tower Barracks Physical Fitness Center on July 9. Camacho assumed his duties as enlisted leader receiving the command colors from Colonel Christopher R. Danbeck, commander of USAG Bavaria.
The ceremony was attended by special guests including the Director of Facility Management Command-Europe, Mr. Tommy Mize and Command Sgt. Major Samara Pitre, 7th Army Training Command Brig. Gen. Joseph Hilbert and Command Sgt. Major Mark Morgan, and a limited number of host country dignitaries from the counties and communities representing Bavaria.
The ceremony opened with a Bavarian welcome worthy of the name, offered by the black powder shooters of Volsbach. Danbeck then took the podium to thank all the guests present and welcome the new member of his team.
âYou are joining a really amazing team,â he told the incoming command sergeant major. âEvery day I am blown away by what they do at our four facilities. â¦ As a team, we continue to provide world-class service to our large and truly diverse community on a daily basis. Our partnerships in Bavaria have set the bar very high across Installation Management Command, not only here in Europe, but I am also thinking of CONUS. â¦ We are delighted that you are here, Sergeant Major, now in the saddle and back to work.
After assuming his responsibilities, Camacho expressed his great appreciation to his mentors and the entire USAG Bavaria team, especially as he and his family came from abroad.
“It’s really better in Bavaria,” he said. âIt’s better in Bavaria, thanks to its people. â¦ It’s better in Bavaria, because we have passionate teammates. â¦ It’s better in Bavaria, thanks to the professional customer service you receive from one of the directorates, departments and departments. â¦ It’s better in Bavaria, because of the strong relationships forged between our soldiers, families, civilians and communities, as well as with our local nationals and partners in the host country. In less than two weeks of being in the field, I already feel a sense of community. And I want to thank you all in advance for your contribution to ensuring that Bavaria remains a better place to work and to feel at home. “
Camacho is from Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands, and he enlisted in the United States Army in August 2000 as a Fire Support Specialist, also known as 13F. He completed basic combat training and advanced individual training at Fort Sill, Okla.
Prior to his posting to USAG Bavaria, Camacho served as Command Sgt. Major of the Field Artillery Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment. And its overseas deployments included three tours of Iraq, including Operation Iraqi Freedom I in April 2003.
As the command sergeant major of USAG Bavaria, Camacho is the command’s senior adviser on matters relating to the operations, training, morale and welfare of the more than 22,500 soldiers in the garrison, Department of the Army civilians and contractors located at four facilities across Bavaria.
