A new principal has been announced at Oakwood Middle School in College Station ISD.

Superintendent Rocco Grande’s recommendation will be considered at a special school board meeting next Tuesday.

Grande, who just completed his seventh year as Oakwood’s deputy director, is promoted following the transfer of Josh Symank to CSIS’s central office as director of human resources.

Tuesday’s special meeting, which begins at 4 p.m., includes three other staffing recommendations:

○ Bridget Cooper, Deputy Director of Human Resources
○ Lani Grall, Vice Principal – College Station Middle School
○ Lauren Guest, Vice Principal – River Bend Elementary

The CSDD Board of Directors will also continue discussions on the 2022-2023 school year budget and employee compensation plan.

College Station ISD press release:

Superintendent of Schools Mike Martindale will recommend Rocco Grande as Principal of Oakwood Intermediate to the Board of Trustees at its May 31, 2022 meeting.

Grande, Oakwood’s current assistant manager, will replace Josh Symank, who was promoted to director of human resources earlier this month.

“Oakwood Intermediate has a great culture and environment and Rocco is a big part of that,” Martindale said. “He is a respected leader and is the obvious choice to continue Oakwood on its upward trajectory.”

Grande has served as Oakwood’s vice-principal since 2015. Previously, he was vice-principal at Sam Rayburn and Davila Middle Schools at Bryan ISD.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English (1999) from Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida, and a Masters in Educational Leadership (2011) from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Grande’s wife, Blaire, is the principal of Pebble Creek Elementary and they have two daughters: Giana (10) and Alessandra (7).
