Nearly $ 7,800 in school supplies collected for Fort McCoy students
Nearly 2,000 Afghans from the Monroe County military installation are taking courses at the base
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Almost $ 7,800 in school supplies will help Afghan children at Fort McCoy.
The donations were collected during the “Allies Welcome School Supply Drive” operation.
Almost 2,000 Afghans from the Monroe County military installation are taking courses at the base.
Community members responded quickly.
âWe didn’t know what to expect. But once again the community grew stronger. Within two weeks the list was fully purchased, âsaid Anne Paape, Community Engagement Coordinator at Great Rivers United Way.
All 673 items are in the process of being delivered.
Great Rivers United Way staff will keep in touch with Fort McCoy staff and teachers to meet any ongoing needs.
