HOLLYWOOD, FL. (WSVN) – A South Florida college student is celebrated today for doing the right thing.

Tafari Taylor, a 17-year-old from South Broward High School, found a wallet containing $ 479 on the classroom floor and returned the money.

“I went to class while I was sitting in class, getting ready to do some homework for my class,” Taylor said. “I looked on the floor, I saw a wallet on the floor.”

While he can do a lot with that amount of money, Taylor knows that doing the right thing isn’t always easy.

“People tell me I did a good thing, you know,” Taylor said. “People have been like, you’re a good kid, you know. It pays to be honest.

In return for her good deed, Patty Brown, Taylor’s manager, and the administration gave her her first pair of Apple Air Pods.

“I don’t know if there are a lot of adults who would have done the same,” Brown said. “Not only did he do something that I don’t think most people would have done, which was find a wallet with a whole bunch of money in it, he didn’t know the amount at the time. and his first reaction was to hand it over to the teacher.

Taylor said the best part of his actions was to make his family proud.

“People have come to me and are like a good thing,” Taylor said. “My mom is proud, my dad is proud, my teachers are proud of me, and I’ll say it’s just doing the right thing.”
